Shop this look with BeautyMNL

I’ve been dying to get the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in the shade Sandstorm for so long, but t was always unavailable whenever I would check in the NYX Stores in SM. So last week I got really fed up already until I had a lightbulb moment and realized that I haven't even tried ordering it online yet! When it comes to lippies, skincare, and nail products, I’m not opposed to online shopping since these items don't really require you to match the shades to your skin tone perfectly. Online shopping totally saves me the trouble of braving the intense traffic these days, or worse, encountering mean makeup salesladies.

So far BeautyMNL was the only site I haven’t shopped from, so I figured I would get my lippie from there. I was so pleased with my purchases and my whole BeautyMNL experience that I figured I would share it with all of you!

The original plan was just to get the lippie and pay, but you guys know I couldn't help but browse the other pages. While I was browsing, I gasped when I saw the ORLY polish in the shade Coffee Break cause you guys know how much I love neutral shades on my claws acrylics. Hehe.

I was also surprised to see loads of skin care brands from Korea as well, so I treated myself to a face mask from Holika Holika because I really wanted to try this brand out after reading some good reviews. The mask turned out to be just as good as other sheet masks brands in my opinion, but nevertheless, it did leave my skin in perfect condition for makeup application.

So above are shots of my current favorite look, with the star of the show being the NYX Liquid Suede lippie that I was finally able to get my hands on, and nails that match them perfectly! If like me, you are loving the whole brown trend in the beauty world, then I highly recommend these products. Get the lippie here, the polish here, and the face mask from here! I also highly recommend trying out shopping in BeautyMNL! I really enjoyed their layout more than other websites as well since it's a lot more organized and user friendly. I could just browse through their pages for hours HAHA. Give it a go the next time you feel like treating yourself to some new makeup. Who knows, you might just find some of your most coveted beauty products there! :)

Could dairy be affecting your skin?

We all get those unexplainable breakouts every once in a while. Just last month, I noticed that my skin wasn’t in its usual shape. I could tell that a breakout was forming around my forehead area, and my whole face in general was a bit more blotchy and red than usual. I knew it couldn't have been my skin care products since I had been using them for months already, and I wasn't using any new makeup products that could be the cause either.

Long story short, upon realizing that I was drinking a lot more Iced Lattes and Mochas for the past few weeks cause of school, I was finally able to link the issues on my skin with an unexpected culprit -- dairy. I've heard about the negative effects of dairy on the skin before, but being the cheese and dessert loving person that I am, I chose to ignore them HAHA. I wouldn't say my dairy intake is too high on a regular basis, but like I said, I was really drinking a ridiculous amount of coffee beverages that had milk in them for a few weeks. So I decided to take action, and once I started lessening my dairy intake for around 3 weeks, I noticed my skin going back to normal. Coincidence? I think not!

So now I just wanna share with you guys a few of the most important things I've learned about the effects of dairy on the skin to save you guys the trouble of reading through tons of articles with highly scientific terms and more importantly, to possibly save your skin! I got all my info from different medical websites, and of course, beauty blogs with testimonials from real women all over the world.

For starters, did you guys know that 75% of the entire population of the world cannot properly digest milk and other dairy products? THAT'S HUGE. Basically, our human stomachs weren't made to digest milk from cows which is why I've heard and read lots of testimonials from people saying that aside from getting better skin, they have also stopped getting stomach pains when they removed dairy from their diets.

Dairy is also one of the most inflammatory food out there because loads of skin problems can be linked to the inflammatory properties from different animal proteins. Not only skin problems, but dairy is linked to different kinds of cancers as well. Isn't that so scary?

And lastly, the growth hormones that the cows intake also make their way to the dairy products that we consume. When we consume dairy products, not only do these hormones contribute to inflammation, but they also lead to skin breakdown, aging, and acne for some. Aging and acne? *puts cheese down* *cries*

I'm not saying we should all quit dairy, but maybe the lesson here is that we can sometimes forget that our skin actually tells us a lot about what's going on not just on the surface, but inside our bodies as well. So if you think that dairy could be affecting your skin, I suggest eliminating it to see if your skin is actually sensitive to it. And who knows, perhaps you'll feel better on the inside as well! Some people notice a huge difference after just a few weeks! But of course, everyone is different. I'm not an expert here, just sharing from my own personal experience! I do hope that I was able to help at least 1 of you beauties out there! :)

Rustan's Beauty Addict

I’ve been a Rustan’s Beauty Addict card holder for a few years now from all the makeup shopping sprees I’ve done at Rustan’s. When I was just starting out my makeup collection, I remember rushing to Rustan’s every chance I got aka whenever my dad would reward me with money for getting high grades HEHE.

While online shopping for makeup is getting more and more popular nowadays, I personally just find it so much better and even kinda therapeutic to actually go to the different makeup counters and try out products. Even if I come out of there with an arm full of lipstick, eyeliner, and eyeshadow swatches, I wear these swatches like a badge of honor. Makeup is serious business jafeel?

So now, my beauty addict card is pretty scratched up from being one of my most used cards, but I really can’t imagine my makeup shopping experience without it! Through the Beauty Addict card, you can even get access to different beauty events and be the first to know about epic sales and special offers. DON’T MISS OUT GUYS! Rustan’s has one of the best selections of different makeup brands, especially if you’re feeling like splurging yourself to a few high end products. I know I’m guilty of that all the time hehe.
One of my ultimate favorite brands to shop for in Rustan’s (and in general, really) is of course, NARS. And I feel like the people over at Rustan’s could read my mind since they were even kind enough to send in a few NARS products for me to try out. Not only that, but they even teamed up with Moet and sent in 2 bottles of champagne. I almost did a cartwheel when I opened the package HAHA. This package arrived just in time for their Beauty Addict event tomorrow, which is a perfect example of the great events that anyone who is a Beauty Addict card holder can be invited to!

So if you’re a beauty addict like I am, then I highly recommend you guys apply for a Beauty Addict card

at Rustan’s! Promise guys, they really go the extra mile to make your makeup dreams come true!

Hadabisei All in One Face Mask

You all know about my love affair with anything that has to do with skincare, so I’m excited to be sharing one of my new favorite sheet mask brands with all of you! When I got this pack of the Hadabisei All in One Face Mask, I was honestly so overwhelmed cause it’s not everyday you find a PACK OF 42 FACE MASKS HAHAHA! But that's exactly what I love about it now, cause I don't have to be panicking that i'll run out! It has now earned a special spot in my bedside table so that I always remember that I could just pop one on after I've cleansed my face. I spend most of my time on my bed anyway so I always see it there haha! Here's what the pack looks like:
What's great about it is that it's resealable too, so you don't have to worry about it drying out! I find it super convenient to just grab one anytime.
I also love how moisturizing these masks are on the skin. My skin type is oily, but I still use these masks once or twice a week. It doesn't turn me greasy or anything, it just makes my skin very plump, soft, and supple. I'm sure it would work even better for dry skin types as well. It's loaded with collagen and about 30 kinds of beauty essences which leaves my skin in great condition. Aside from this mask, Hadabisei also carries other variations such as anti-aging or tightening masks. I haven't tried them out yet but I'll be sure to review them once I have!

No joke, I look like this practically half of the time I'm home. Complete with messy bun and my favorite robe HAHAHA.
I really believe that great makeup starts with a great base, which is why I always strongly recommend incorporating sheet masks into your skincare regimen. This mask has been perfect for giving my skin a nice boost of nourishment whenever I know I'm gonna be wearing a lot of foundation. Together with a light exfoliation, gets rid of any dry patches of skin that makeup may cling on to. It's the little things like that which can really be a deal breaker for your makeup routine.
If you wanna get yourself this epic pack of sheet masks, head on over to any Beauty Bar! They carry the All in One mask together with Hadabisei's other variations of sheet masks. This entire pack of 42 costs around Php900 which is such a steal! Happy face masking, beauties!

Dermalogica Facial Experience

If you’ve been following me for a while now, then you’ll know how obsessed I have become with skin care. I used to have a mindset that anything can be covered with makeup, but eventually I realized that great skin is the real MVP here. It’s just impossible for makeup to look its best if your skin isn’t looking its best as well.

With that being said, I’m always on the lookout for effective new skin care products that help in my quest for perfect skin. And recently, the brand Dermalogica has entered my life and I think it’s safe to say that it has now made a permanent spot on my shelf of skin care products. But what Dermalogica has offered me that has really changed my skin the most, was their Special Skincare Treatment that I am so happy I was able to document so I could share a glimpse of my experience with all of you!

I came in thinking that it would just be like any other facial I have experienced, but I was wrong. This facial felt very luxurious from start to finish and it was a great way for me to experience and feel the difference that Dermalogica products really make on the skin. Specifically, what really got my attention was their Pre-Cleanse, Cleanser, and HyrdaBlur the Charcoal Mask that Ms. Riza used on me. I'll make a separate review on these products, but for now I really wanna give attention to the amazing facial! Check out the short video below.

As you will see in the video, what was the main difference of Dermalogica's facial, was the Face Mapping, which is Dermalogica's unique way of analyzing each person's skin. They divide your skin into 14 different zones, and tell you what skin concerns are present in each one. For me, I found out that I have an uneven skin tone around my forehead and neck, as well as dehydrated skin. Upon analyzing my skin, Ms. Riza then created a skin care regimen for me and recommended the products I need for my skin.

What I also liked about the facial was that Ms. Riza didn't use any tools for the extraction of a few of my pimples and blackheads, she just used her fingers! I asked her why, and she said she prefers using fingers because they don't leave scars and scabs unlike some tools do. True enough, I didn't notice any marks from the facial, but I was left with really supple and smooth skin. This really pleased me because I'm used to having quite a few scars after getting facials. I usually end up having to cover these scars for a few days with makeup, but this wasn't the case with the Dermalogica facial at all. I ended up not even wearing any makeup the following days just cause my skin was looking soooo good.

I highly recommend giving Dermalogica's facials a try if you have some skin concerns, or even if you just feel like giving your skin a boost! The effects of the facial last for weeks and I truly believe that when it comes to your skin, there are really some things that you cant just do at home. The facials range from Php1200 to Php2200 and can be done in their Rustan's Makati, Shangri-La, and Alabang branches.

Happy Skin Moisturizing Lip Liners

Hi guys! For the swatches of the new Happy Skin Moisturizing Matte Lippies, I’ve decided to do something different! I've filmed a short video showcasing the 3 shades instead of just taking photos like I usually do. I had a lot of free time on my hands and I just felt like this was a better way for you guys to see how the shades look and just how amazing they apply! I've fallen in love with this product so much that I wanted to go the extra mile. Pictures don't do this product any justice!

These lipliners are actually from Happy Skin's collaboration with the beautiful Heart Evangelista-Escudeo. She explains that she likes to stick to more classic and traditional color palettes, which is why all three shades are so wearable and would go great with different colors of lipstick that you may want to wear over them. But for me, I've been wearing these lipliners on their own, and maybe with just a touch of clear gloss once in a while when I'm feeling more adventurous.

My favorite lipliners are usually from MAC and Charlotte Tilbury, but from the first time I tried on the Happy Skin ones, they zoomed straight to the top of my list as one of the best lipliners money can buy! Aside from the fact that they are SO pigmented, what I really love about them is that they don't budge once they're on your lips. I even wear the shade First Date whenever I go boxing, and it still ends up looking perfect by the time I'm done. Even if they have a perfect matte finish, they also feel incredibly comfortable on the lips thanks to the ingredients like Cupuaçu Butter, Shea Butter, and collagen!

First Date is a universal pink that's perfect for...well...first dates HAHA. I'll wait til someone asks me out before I can 100% attest to that though. But seriously speaking, it's a great shade for those girly girls out these that love their pink lips.

Skinny Dipping on the other hand, is a nice warm nude perfect for those "no makeup" makeup days. I think this color would also work well if you want to tone down a bolder eye look.

And lastly, Heartthrob is a beautiful red shade that has a slightly blue undertone which I am so happy about because it just makes my teeth look extra white when I have this shade on! Heartthrob is my personal favorite from the 3 shades, and if you follow me on Snapchat, you'll know that I've been wearing this consecutively for the past couple of days. Talk about obsessed!

I super duper highly recommend this lipliner and can't rave about it enough! They are P499 each and are now available in all Happy Skin stores! Hurry and get your lipliners ASAP because sadly, they are just limited edition HUHUHU. Don't be surprised if you catch me hoarding all of them.

Also, please let me know what you guys think of this style of swatching on my ask.fm! Til next time, beauties!

Langsre Product Review: So far so good!

Recently I have been fortunate enough to try out some new beauty products from Korea from the brand Langsre. Since the trend for Koreans is to incorporate more than 10 different products into their skin care regimens, of course I had to take some precautions in adding these products into my routine since I didn't want my skin to react badly if I just immediately switched up all the products I apply to my face. So I decided to just first start out and review Langsre's spray on sunscreen, BB Cushion, and their Lemon Berry Natural Oil to Foam. Stay tuned for the rest of my review of their products when I see the effect they have on my skin in a few weeks. But I will tell you guys, so far, I'm really loving this line!
Starting out with the spray on sunscreen, I can honestly say that it has made applying sunscreen daily so quick and convenient. It's been my favorite product from the line so far. The sunblock has a very sheer formula and is white in color, but it doesn't leave a noticeable white cast unlike most sunblocks available in the market. A little goes a long way with this so be careful! I only use about 2 to 3 sprays for my entire face and I'm also really impressed with the actual spray bottle because it really mists the product on evenly. Note that this product can even be worn over makeup, but I prefer to wear it over my skincare and under my makeup because it feels really hydrating on the skin, which is perfect for applying makeup.

The Moist UV BB Cushion on the other hand, really lives up to its name and provides the most dewey finish I've experienced from a BB Cushion. I highly recommend this product for those with really dry skin, but it may require a lot of priming for those who are oily. I have combination skin and the product sat on my skin really nicely in the areas that I'm not too oily like my cheeks, but I did find that it got a little greasy in my t-zone. After using a mattifying primer the second time around, I found that it sat better on my entire face and I just needed to blot after a few hours around my t-zone. This product has full coverage which is great if you feel like you have a lot of blemishes, but of course you could simply pat on less of the product if you want lighter coverage. What's nice is that not only will it provide your SPF needs since it's SPF 50, but it also has whitening and anti-wrinkling properties.
Below is a photo I took while wearing only the BB Cushion on my skin. I really loved how it made my skin look so dewey and healthy so I didn't even bother to contour anymore! It's my go-to product whenever I'm feeling like doing simple and fresh makeup for the day. It does a nice job of eliminating my redness and making my skin look effortlessly good!
At the end of the day, I've been trying out their Lemon Berry Natural Oil to Foam cleanser to remove my makeup and it's been doing such a great job that it's even been replacing my micellar waters. I wasn't hesitant to use this product because it's made of 99.9% natural ingredients and is super gentle on the skin. Sometimes I even use it in the morning just as a mild cleanser, especially if I feel like I haven't properly removed my makeup the night before. Let's just say that this product has been keeping my skin good even after 3 consecutive wine nights in a row HEHE.

The best part is that all of these products are available in the Lazada website! I'll be sure to review more of the products from the line so stay tuned for that if you're interested in learning more about them. You guys can purchase the products here.

Working Girl Tutorial

Finally found the time to film a tutorial that one of my readers has been requesting for a couple of months now! I know it took a while, but here is the look that I figured would not only be appropriate for those who are part of a cabin crew, but for all of you girls who are working or maybe even taking internships this summer. I know not all companies require their employees to wear makeup, but let’s say you have a big meeting to attend, or a fancy dinner party with the bosses, well, I could only hope that this tutorial will make life a little easier for you!

As I mentioned in the video, the look is just a very simple and classic brown eye paired with a red lip, appropriate for day or night! I used a few shimmery shades and a pop of gold on the eyes just to add a little glam to the look. Here I chose to keep my hair in a sleek low ponytail, but I'm sure it would go with any hairstyle as well!

Hope you guys enjoy this video! I'll be sure to work on more of your requests this summer! :)

TV 100 App

Hi guys! Just wanted to share a great app I’ve been really enjoying for the past few weeks. The TV 100 app has a lot of different kinds of shows and videos for everyone, but my favorites are 2 of their original shows ON FLEEK which features hair makeovers, and the TV 100 Tutorials which showcases a series of “How-to-do’s”.
How-to videos played such a huge part in educating me with makeup and hair, which is why I really treasure apps like these that allow me to gain even more knowledge on different techniques, trends, and of course, tips! I really recommend that you guys download this app and explore it. I love checking it out during my breaks haha! Hopefully, you guys enjoy it as much as I do!

Maybelline NYFW Interview with Georgina Wilson!

As you can see, I came to my final Maybelline NYFW challenge extremely nervous and excited at the same time. The top 15 finalists had been tasked to interview Georgina Wilson and have a whole chit chat about makeup, travel, and of course, Maybelline!

I had a whole set of questions prepared on my phone, but the conversation with Georgina really just came so naturally. As surprising as this may seem, it’s not very often that I get to talk to people who speak fluent “makeup” as I do. As soon as Georgina and I got worked up talking about makeup, all my nerves magically disappeared and I just felt like I was talking to a friend and fellow makeup addict.

That morning, it took me a good 30 minutes before I could decide what makeup look to wear so the first thing I asked Georgina as soon as we were seated was how she chose what makeup look to wear for that day. She said that more often than not, she just allows the makeup artist for the day to decide but of course her lips are her favorite part of her face to play around with, and we both ended up admitting to not even knowing how many lipsticks we own. Can any girl even really keep count? Haha!

Speaking of lip products, Georgina absolutely swears by Maybelline’s Lip Gradation. Of course I took note of the product so I could get my hands on it! I was dying to find out if she had any lip tips she could share from years of being in the industry, and she was kind enough to share that she uses a lot of lip liners and other products in order to achieve her perfect pout.

I also asked Georgina how it feels like to be the newest endorser for Maybelline. We were surrounded with pictures of Gigi Hadid, Adriana Lima, and other drop dead gorgeous Maybelline girls that afternoon, and upon meeting Georgina up close and personal, I couldn’t help but feel like she fit right in. But beyond that, I loved how much Georgina really embodied the brand, and how she and Maybelline shares the same makeup philosophy as I do.

The makeup quote I live by is: “Give a woman the right makeup, and she can conquer the world.” So I mentioned it to Georgina and asked her if she agreed, and then it was all girl power from there! Like I always say, makeup should be celebrated, and Georgina feels exactly the same way.

She also told me how she believes women should always empower one another and stop the hate. This made me ask about her thoughts on some of the people I really dislike -- makeup shamers. She was surprised to find out that there were actually people like that around, and I went on about how some people have such close-minded ideas about women who love makeup like that women who love makeup are automatically insecure or shallow. You all know how strongly I feel about these people!

Georgina then told me something that will stick to me for a long time. She told me that she’s learned that whenever people try to hate and bring others down, it’s not because something is wrong with you, but with them and that I shouldn’t let what makeup shamers think affect me or stop me from pursuing my dreams. Georgina was totally the image of girl power!

In the end, of course I just HAD to take a Snap with Georgina to commemorate such an amazing experience for me. A big thank you to Georgina for being so kind and generous with her answers, as well as everyone at Maybelline for letting me get this far and for allowing me to #MAKEITHAPPEN!

Valentine's Day Tutorial

It’s finally my favorite time of the year! I always put a lot of thought into what look I’ll be doing for Valentine’s Day. The makeup can never be too much so that you don't scare guys off LOL, but of course I still tried my best to make it very pretty and romantic every year. I also love how it’s the most appropriate time of the year to bring out all the pinks, purples, and mauve shades.

So below is the tutorial I came up with for this Valentine's Day! Hopefully it will make you feel absolutely gorgeous whether you've got a big date or you're flying solo this year. I rarely get to use the shades I used for my eyes since I usually stick to neutral shades, but it was so much fun experimenting and coming up with such a girly look.

Hope you all enjoy this tutorial! For those of you who wanna do something similar, I'm sure you guys will nail this look since it's a lot simpler than some of the other looks I've done.
If you guys have any questions, you may reach me through ask.fm!

Linkage Meu from Cedar Salon

Last December, Cedar Salon was kind enough to retouch my roots as well as let me try an amazing deep-conditioning hair treatment called Linkage Meu which is what this blog post will be all about. This special three-step treatment was created by Japanese brand Milbon and smoothens and softens hair. Aside from being a three-step treatment, what was different about this treatment is that it is also reinforced by home care vials that allow you to sustain the treatment’s effects on your hair. This treatment was perfect for my long hair especially since I have a hard time managing my hair sometimes. But as you probably already know by now, I HATE HAIRCUTS! HAHAHA.

So this was my hair before the treatment. As you can see it was pretty dry, frizzy, and bordering mermaid length.

And here are the Linkage Meu products! There's amino oil to smoothen the hair's surface, a veil that seals in moisture, and lastly a smoothening collagen top coat. Each step has a distinct scent note, making the treatment even more relaxing.

Here I am enjoying my treatment. Cedar salon has great zen-inspired interiors, and they even gave me my own robe to wear as I had my treatment done. The treatment surprisingly doesn't take much longer than usual salon treatments or hot oils. They were done with all three steps in about an hour. Every member of the staff was also really nice and accommodating, even if I could feel how tired their arms were getting from my super long and thick hair hehe.

And for the moment of truth: here is what my hair looked like once the treatment was rinsed off and my hair was blow dried. It was insanely smooth and my hair smelled amazing! They also did a great job with my roots.
I would definitely say there's a difference in comparison to the usual salon treatments I get. The way my hair moved around was just much nicer in general. The treatment also brought out the color in my hair more.
I would really recommend this treatment especially if you wanna bring life back into your dry and frizzy hair! My hair definitely stayed more smooth and manageable for the next week or so, even after I washed it already. If you wanna give Linkage Meu a shot, you can head on over to Cedar Salon at 200 A Wilson St., San Juan! You may also follow Cedar Salon on FB (facebook.com/CedarSalon) or @CedarSalon on IG and Twitter!
